Camp Noliewalka

Our Great Camp Adventure!

On September 23, 2017, Camp Noliewalka will be participating in the SickKids Great Camp Adventure Walk for the second time. We had so much fun last year we can’t wait to do it again! Our amazing team raised $13,705 and we hope to grow our team and raise more funds for the hospital that saved our Nolan.

Our team will be participating in a full day adventure throughout the City of Toronto. A challenge-by-choice walk that we will travel anywhere up to the full 20 km route, jam-packed with awesome camp challenges for us to tackle as a team along the way.

Nolan was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped. In addition to HLHS, doctors discovered that Nolan had atresia of the ascending aorta. A heart transplant became his only option for survival. He went on the transplant list when he was 5 weeks old. After fighting several infections, undergoing open-heart surgery at 11 days old and suffering severe distress from a failing heart, Nolan received his new heart when he was just 9 weeks old. Recovery went well and Nolan finally came home after 4 months at SickKids. He is now a strong, happy and busy 3 year old who amazes us every day! So this is why we are walking in the Great Camp Adventure. It is our way of saying thank you to SickKids and the amazing team of people who fought for Nolan and supported our family. We would not be able to tell Nolan’s story without them. We are forever grateful and we want to do our part to ensure that every child who enters the doors of SickKids has the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life.

Our family and friends have always been an incredible support for us and we welcome anyone who wishes to join our team and walk with us on September 23th! Or you can simply donate to a cause that continues to change the outcome for children and their families just as SickKids has done for our family.

Please support our adventure. We’re already counting the sleeps!

Forever grateful,

Camp Noliewalka
